Abstract

In a display device including active switching units, lateral Schottky diodes are used as switching elements. In the lateral Schottky diodes a sub-micron distance between the Schottky electrode and the opposing electrode contacting the semiconductor body is obtained by anodizing the Schottky metal and subsequently doping the exposed portion of the semiconductor body, for example, by ion implantation.
