Abstract

A dibenzylidenesorbitol derivative having at least one nuclear substituent selected from an ester group represented by --COOR.sup.1 and an amido group represented by --CONR.sup.2 R.sup.3, wherein R.sup.1 represents a hydrocarbon group having 1 to 20 carbon atoms, and R.sup.2 and R.sup.3 are identical or different and each independently represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group or an aralkyl group.
