Abstract
An apparatus for winding a multifilament in a flat shape with a broad width, including a self-rotatable mandrel and a yarn guiding device comprising a pair of conical rotatable roll, a generatrix of each being arranged in parallel to the other, and having a space in a direction perpendicular to a traverse direction of the multifilament, a collecting means arranged downstream of the pair of guide roll and collecting the multifilament along the traverse direction of the multifilament, and a spreading means downstream of the collecting means and spreading the multifilament along the traverse direction of the multifilament. The multifilament, such as a carbon fiber, can be wound in uniformly spread state on the mandrel by using the apparatus in accordance with the present invention.
