Abstract

A polycarbonatediol composition is disclosed having the property of being liquid at room temperature because of its crystallinity being disordered due to random structures, which comprises a mixture of 1,6-hexanediol and polyvalent alcohol having at least one side chain. Accordingly, the disclosed composition has excellent processability in the case of preparing a polyurethane resin, etc. Further disclosed is a polyurethane resin prepared by reaction of an organic diisocyanate compound with the polycarbonatediol composition. The polyurethane resin has excellent properties under low temperature conditions, while retaining high levels of mechanical strength, excellent resistibility under high heat and moisture conditions, etc., thereby maintaining a good balance of properties. The polyurethane resin in accordance with the present invention, is useful in a very wide variety of forms, including spandex, rigid or flexible urethane foams, thermoplastic urethane elastomers and thermosetting urethane elastomers, adhesives, synthetic leather, and paints, etc.
