Abstract
The invention relates to novel tetracyclic compounds with an anti-depressant action, without neuroleptic or sedative side effects, of the general formula I ##STR1## and also functional derivatives hereof, wherein: R.sup.1 represents one or two identical or different substituents denoting H, OH, halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkoxy; R.sup.2 represents one or two identical or different substituents having the same meaning as R.sup.1 ; R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are two substituents which are in the cis configuration and of which one is H and the other is OH; R.sup.5 is H or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl; X denotes O or S; n is 0 or 1.
