Abstract
The present invention provides a restriction endonuclease which recognizes palindromic sequences ##STR1## where C* is methylated, and cleaves these sequences at the position indicated by the arrows. This endonuclease is preferably from a microorganism of the genus Kluyvera. The present invention also provides a process for obtaining this new restriction endonuclease and a method for using the endonuclease.
