Abstract
There is provided the process for producing an imide-based prepolymer having high solvent solubility by reacting an unsaturated bisimide of formula (I): ##STR1## wherein D is a divalent group having a carbon-to-carbon double bond, and A is a divalent group having at least two carbon atoms, with a diamine in the presence of a radical scavenger.
