Abstract

This method which involves reacting maleic anhydride and .alpha.-olefins in an autoclave at about 200.degree.-250.degree. C. gives particularly good results and produces alkenyl-succinic anhydrides which need not be purified by distillation when using, as the starting .alpha.-olefins, dodecene containing a substantial amount of tetradecene.
