Abstract

A macrocyclic compound of the formula I, ##STR1## in which the substituents have the following meaning: X is hydrogen or methyl, Y is hydrogen, --CHO, --COCH.sub.3, --COCH.sub.2 OCH.sub.3, --COCH.sub.2 OCH.sub.3, --COCH.sub.2 NH.sub.2, benzyl, methyl or a silyl group, and A--B--C is the following C.sub.3 -chain members: ##STR2## in which R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3, independently of one another, are hydrogen, methyl, --CHO, --COCH.sub.2 OCH.sub.3, --COCH.sub.2 OCH.sub.3, --COCH.sub.2 NH.sub.2 or a silyl group, and R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are hydrogen, halogen or --COO(C.sub.1 --C.sub.3) alkyl, is suitable for controlling and preventing plant diseases. A compound of this type can be employed in a customary manner in the form of plant-protecting agents formulated with carrier substances and extenders.
