Abstract
Halogenated hydrocarbons are reacted in a reactor at temperatures up to 1000.degree. C. with greater-than-stoichiometric amounts of calcium and/or magnesium silicates in a reactor for the chemical-thermal degradation of the halogenated hydrocarbons. Neither dioxins nor furans are formed in the waste gas in this process.
