Abstract

A photoconductor for electrophotography, including an electroconductive substrate; and a photosensitive layer formed on the electroconductive substrate and including a nobel azo compound or disazo compound as a charge generating substance. An azo compound is represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein each of R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 stands for a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a hydroxy group, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, an allyl group, an aryl group, an aralkyl group, a carboxyl group or an ester group, and C.sub.p stands for a residual group of a coupler.
