Abstract

A recording medium comprising at least one electron donating colorless dye and at least one electron accepting compound, wherein the electron accepting compound is a salicylic acid compound represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R represents a divalent group; X and Y, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen aotm, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxy group, or a halogen atom; and Z represents a hydrogen atom, a carboxyl group, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxy group, or a halogen atom, or a metal salt thereof.
