Abstract

There is provided a process for converting a C.sub.5 -C.sub.10 paraffinic feedstock such as a Udex reffinate into other hydrocarbons including C.sub.6 -C.sub.8 aromatics, C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 olefins, C.sub.9.sup.+ aromatics and C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 paraffins. By using a catalyst comprising (1) a binder and (2) ZSM-5 or ZSM-11, said catalyst having low acid catalytic activity as measured by an alpha value of 25 or less, the selectivity to the more desired C.sub.6 -C.sub.8 aromatics and C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 olefins is increased. The low alpha value of the catalyst may be achieved by deactivating the catalyst under conditions comprising steaming, high temperature calcining and/or coking.
