Abstract

Optically active esters of 1-acylproline of the general formula ##STR1## in which at least one of the radicals R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 is a mesogenic radical, are suitable as dopes in ferroelectric liquid-crystal mixtures. Proline derivatives in which only the R.sup.1 radical is mesogenic are preferred.
