Abstract

Modified polymers based on polyvinylene carbonate and/or polyhydroxymethylene are prepared containing covalently bonded units derived from particular alkoxylated compounds. Polymerization is carried out in the presence of the alkoxylated compounds and a particular dispersion stabilizer. The modified polymer is suitable as a carrier for biologically active substances or for affinity chromatography.
