Abstract

A process is described which permits to prepare substantially pure 2-tert-butyl-4-methoxyphenol, by reacting 4-bromo-2-tert-butylphenol with a methoxide in an organic solvent. The process permits to obtain a substantially pure 2-isomer, and avoids the need for the separation of the 2- and 3-isomers.
