Abstract

An atomizing pump dispenser which includes a valve member having a flattened top so that the diameter of the sealing area in the outlet is increased substantially. A recess within the valve member is modified to provide conical ball sealing oprtions tapered at predetermined angles to provide a tight seal between the ball and the valve member. The innermost end of an inner hollow part of the valve member is a reduced diameter portion such that the initial movement of the valve member is easier. This in effect, tricks the user's finger by easing the initiation of movement of the actuator so as to give the feel of free movement. The inner part of the valve member is provided with a molded-in slotted protrusion for breaking the seal between the valve member and a flexible annular seal, thus alleviating the creation of the vacuum caused by the seal between the ball and the ball seat.
