Abstract
A process for the preparation of bisalkoxy(iso)violanthrenediones involves alkylating the corresponding bishydroxyl compounds in an organic reaction medium with methyl benzoate as the reaction medium. The ester can easily be regenerated and is stable under the reaction conditions.
