Abstract
For sub-sampling interpolation, two interpolation sampled values are calculated from two groups of sampling points arranged in the horizontal and vertical scanning directions, respectively, or in the horizontal scanning and temporal directions, respectively. The one of the two interpolation sampled values which is closest to its immediately preceding sampled value is selected.
