Abstract

Corrosion inhibitors comprising (a) an imidazoline of the formula I ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -hydroxyalkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -aminoalkyl or C.sub.2 -C.sub.19 -carboxyalky or an ammonium or amine salt thereof and R.sup.2 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.17 -alkyl or C.sub.2 -C.sub.17 -alkenyl, (b) a heterocyclic polyacid of the formula II ##STR2## in which R.sup.3 is C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -carboxyalkyl or an alkali metal, alkaline earth metal, ammonium or amine salt thereof, (c) at least one alkanolamine of the formula III ##STR3## in which R.sup.4 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -hydroxyalkyl and R.sup.5 and R.sup.6, which can be identical or different, are hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -hydroxyalkyl, and (d) water are outstandingly suitable for the corrosion-inhibiting treatment of shaped iron and steel parts.
