Abstract

Quaternary ammonium compounds corresponding to the formula ##STR1## are produced by esterification of ether amines corresponding to the formula ##STR2## with a fatty acid of the formula R.sup.2 --COOH and quaternization of the product obtained with an alkyl halide or a dialkyl sulfate. They are suitable for use as conditioning and revitalizing agents in hair-cosmetic preparations.
