Abstract
A photoconductor for electrophotography comprises a novel azo compound as a charge generating substance. An azo compound is represented by the following general formula: ##STR1## wherein, X.sub.1 stands for an alkyl group which may have a substituent(s) or a phenyl group which may have a substituent(s), X.sub.2 stands for a hydrogen atom, a cyano group, a carbamoyl group, an ester group, an acetyl group or a propyonyl group, each of X.sub.3 and X.sub.4 stands for a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a nitro group, an alkoxy group or an alkyo group which may have a substituent(s), and D stands for a substituent.
