Abstract

A carboxylic acid which has a pK.sub.a within the range of 2 to 7 and the ability to increase the effective alkalinity of fly ash for flue gas desulfurization. Carboxylic acid may be combined with adjuvants. Generally carboxylic acids with dispersant properties are preferred. Adjuvants which enhance the dispersant qualities of carboxylic acid are desirable.
