Abstract

A peptide that causes a suppression in protein synthesis by halting the translation of mRNA into protein, the peptide having a Stokes radius of less than 16 Angstroms, a molecular weight, determined by SDS-PAGE, of 17 kD (indicating that the peptide is a monomer) and an isoelectric point of 7.25. The peptide of the present invention may have therapeutic advantages in halting the proliferation of abnormal or excess protein,
