Abstract
In a method for bonding a nonwoven web of cellulosic fibers by depositing a polymeric binder on the web, the improvement comprising (1) pretreating the cellulosic fibers by depositing up to about 10 wt % of an adhesion-promoting compound which demonstrates adhesion to cellulosic fibers of at least 200 g as measured by a cellophane laminate test, and
