Abstract

The present invention provides a process for the quantitative determination of free thyroxine (FT.sub.4) in plasma, serum or whole blood by immunological methods, wherein the sample is incubated for at most 10 minutes with a 10 to 2000 fold insufficiency of labelled anti-T.sub.4 antibodies, referred to the molar amount of total T.sub.4 in the sample, then immediately brought together with immobilized excess T.sub.4, again incubated, the phases separated and the label measured in one of the phases.
