Abstract

A method of identifying an aimed coated fiber in an optical transmission network. Identification of the aimed coated fiber in the optical transmission network is accomplished between its upstream and downstream ends during transmission of an optical signal without disrupting the capabilities of an optical communication network or causing deterioration of the optical signal being transmitted.
