Abstract

The invention relates to a rock breaking tool having a barrel insertable into a pre-drilled, water-filled hole of the rock. The rock breaking tool utilizes a firing chamber to discharge a cartridge into the barrel. A blast absorbing mat is located over the tool to retain the tool in position in the hole during discharge. The invention also relates to the method of using the rock breaking tool.
