Abstract
Optical image data read by a photoelectric converter are converted into N-bit digital signals through A-D converter, which are inputted in a look-up table memory as address data. The memory stores M-bit digital data which are linearly dependent on optical density of the image. Thus, the N-bit digital signals are transformed to the M-bits digital signals and a reproduced image obtained as an output of the memory has a optical density which is corresponding to that of the original image.
