Abstract

A fire-extinguishing composition comprising a fluorine-containing surfactant of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.f is a polyfluoroalkyl group having from 3 to 20 carbon atoms, X is a bivalent connecting group containing an ether-type oxygen atom, R is an alkylene group, Y is ##STR2## wherein Z.crclbar. is an anionic group-containing alkyl group, R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or a hydroxyalkyl group, or forms together with R.sup.2 an alkylene group, R.sup.2 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or a hydroxyalkyl group, or forms together with R.sup.1 an alkylene group, and R.sup.3 is a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group or a hydroxyalkyl group.
