Abstract
An image processing apparatus has an image reading unit, a two dimensional smoothing circuit, a dither processing circuit, a binarizing circuit, a discriminator, a switch and a printer. A moire suppressed binary signal from the dither processing circuit is supplied to the printer via the switch when the discriminator discriminates a pixel of interest as a dot region. However, when the discriminator discriminates the pixel of interest as a line image region, a binary signal from the binarizing circuit is supplied to the printer via the switch.
