Abstract
A composition useful for molding into articles such as food containers, soft drink bottles, cured structural plastics and the like, comprising molding grade linear or unsaturated polyester or polycarbonate having reacted or copolymerized therein the residue of one or a mixture of styrylbenzazole reactants of the formula: ##STR1## wherein A is the residue of a benzene ring of a benzoxazole, benzothiazole or benzionidazole radical; X is --O--, --S-- or --N(R.sup.2)--; Ph is a phenylene radical; and R.sup.1 is halogen or --Y--R.sup.2 in which Y is --O-- or --N(R.sup.2)-- and each R.sup.2 is hydrogen, alkenyl or an unsubstituted or substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl or aryl radical.
