Abstract
A magnetic recording medium is disclosed, comprising a non-magnetic support having thereon a magnetic layer comprising ferromagnetic fine particles, a binder, and .alpha.-alumina particles having an average size of from about 0.1 to 0.3 .mu.m, provided that the number of .alpha.-alumina particles having a particle size of larger than 0.05 .mu.m is at least equal to the number of .alpha.-alumina particles having a particle size of up to 0.05 .mu.m.
