Abstract
An optical recording medium having two adhered substrates one of which has a magneto-optic recording layer thereon and the other of which has at least one dielectric layer thereon so as to improve stability and weatherability. The dielectric layer is a transparent oxide, a nitride or a mixture of an oxide and a nitride and has a thickness between about 30.ANG. and 10 .mu.m. In an especially preferred embodiment, neither substrate is provided with any layers in either the internal area or the circumferential area of a disk and the substrates themselves are exposed and adhered together with adhesive.
