Abstract

A magnetic recording medium is disclosed which comprises a non-magnetic support having coated thereon a magnetic layer containing a specific amount of a specific acicular Cr.sub.2 O.sub.3 along with alpha-Al.sub.2 O.sub.3, SiC, and/or TiC, which medium shows excellent surface properties and electromagnetic properties, as well as improved running durability.
