Abstract

A small quantity of bromine (0.1 to 1 m/liter of electrolyte) is added to the electrolyte of an activatable Li/SO.sub.2 Cl.sub.2 battery. This small amount of bromine acts as a catalyst, not as a depolarizer. Considerable improvement is thus obtained in the electrical performance of the battery.
