Abstract

2,2,6,6-tetraalkyl-4-piperidinyl derivatives and, more specifically, the N,N'-bis(2,2,6,6-tetraalkyl-4-piperidene)2,2'-diamino-2,2'-dihydrocarbyl divinyl ketones wherein the alkyl groups have independently from one to about eight carbon atoms and said hydrocarbyl moieties are selected from the group consisting of alkyls having between one and about eight carbon atoms, aryl, alkaryl, and aralkyl groups having between one and about twenty carbon atoms. These compounds are useful as UV light stabilizers in plastics and cosmetics (e.g. sunscreens).
