Abstract

A process for the production of a polyacetylene composite is disclosed. A solution containing at least one ionic organic compound represented by the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein M denotes at least one member selected from the group consisting of alkali metals, X and Y are the same or different and represent --O or ##STR2## R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 each are at least one member selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, substituted or unsubstituted alkyl groups of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, and substituted or unsubstituted alkoxy groups of 1 to 5 carbon atoms, or R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 or R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 in combination form a cyclic structure, is applied to a polyacetylene polymer. The coated polyacetylene polymer is then dried.
