Abstract

The dextran derivatives have a molecular weight higher than about 5000 daltons and comprise statistically at least about 35% of units substituted by radicals having a COO.sup.- function and at least 3% of units comprising a group of structure ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is a single bond; or a ##STR2## group, R.sub.2 is an anion of an inorganic or an organic salt and n is a number from 1 to 4.
