Abstract
Sunscreen compositions are described which comprise a carrier having incorporated therein in an amount effective to provide protection against the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation a compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein X is --O-- or --NH--; R, R.sup.2, R.sup.3, R.sup.4, is H, CH.sub.3, --CN, --C.sub.2 H.sub.5 and OH, --OCH.sub.3, --OC.sub.2 H.sub.5 ; R' is selected from an alkyl, alkenyl, aryl or alkyl substituted aryl radical having 5-18 carbon atoms and the radical OR.sup.5 where R.sup.5 is an alkyl, alkenyl, aryl or alkyl substituted aryl radical having 6-18 carbon atoms.
