Abstract

A microprocessor-based telephone set includes a telephone number memory, a number indicator, an abbreviated number scanning switch and associated control circuit, in addition to a push-button dial and a hook switch as equipped in the usual telephone set. Telephone numbers are preset in correspondence to abbreviated numbers, so that a telephone number is dialed automatically by simply specifying a corresponding abbreviated number using the scanning switch and indicator. By provision of an FM transceiver within the handset and a separate relay unit for establishing radio communication with the base telephone station, a mobile telephone system is configured.
