Abstract

Hexafluoroacetone hydrate is obtained with a high current efficiency by electrolytically oxidizing dimer or monomer of hexafluoro-.alpha.-hydroxyisobutanoic acid in an electrolytic solution composed of an aqueous solution of (1) a nickel salt and (2) HCl, HBr or an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal thereof.
