Abstract
An integrally molded, generally rectangular, tamper-evident, reclosable lid for a container is formed from a rigid thermoplastic and has a peripheral wall section that defines a recess, with a rupturable planar member extending across the recess, and has an integral closure member hingedly connected to the peripheral wall section. The planar member and closure member provide a double seal prior to opening by a user, and after removal of the rupturable portion of the planar member, the integral hinged closure member provides a seal for the contents of the container. The lid is formed from a rigid plastic having a tensile modulus and flexural modulus in excess of 100.times.10.sup.3 p.s.i. and a melting point in excess of 140.degree. C. to provide a lid resistant to removal from a container as well as other properties desired.
