Abstract

The invention relates to a family of sidechain homopolymers of the polyacrylate type derived from 3-fluoro-4-cyanophenol and exhibiting a mesophase of the nematic or smectic-A type. The polymer in accordance with the invention corresponds to the following general chemical formula : ##STR1## where x indicates the degree of polymerization and 4.ltoreq.n.ltoreq.15.
