Abstract
In a continuously variable belt transmission system utilizing a drive pulley and a driven pulley having logarithmic spiral guideways in the pulley disks, the balance actuator torque is reduced significantly by having the logarithmic spiral guideways connected directly to the shaft of the driving pulley in a sense opposite to that of the direction of belt movement and in the case of the driven pulley having the sense of the logarithmic spiral guideways connected directly to the shaft the same as that of the driving belt.
