Abstract
Acid half esters of the formula ##STR1## or quaternary ammonium compounds thereof, wherein R is an aliphatic radical of 12 to 24 carbon atoms, one of Y.sub.1 and Y.sub.2 is hydrogen and the other is phenyl, one of X.sub.1 and X.sub.2 is hydrogen and the other is methyl, one of Z.sub.1 and Z.sub.2 is hydrogen and the other is the maleic acid radical or the phthalic acid radical, m.sub.1 and m.sub.2 are 0 or 1, s.sub.1, s.sub.2, p.sub.1 and p.sub.2 are integers, with the sum of s.sub.1 +s.sub.2 being 25 to 50 and the sum of p.sub.1 +p.sub.2 is 4 to 15. These compounds are suitable for a wide range of utilities in textile application. In particular, they are used as assistants for dyeing wool-containing fibre materials with anionic dyes or mixtures of dyes.
