Abstract

A process for preparing a magnetic recording medium is described, comprising subjecting a surface of a non-magnetic support having a surface roughness of not less than 0.01 .mu.m to a non-contact surface treatment, providing a layer containing a compound polymerizable by radiation exposure on the surface of the support, exposing said layer to radiation, and then providing a magnetic layer on the radiation-exposed layer.
