Abstract

An electronic blood pressure meter including a cuff, a pressure system for pressurizing and evacuating the cuff, a pressure sensor for detecting pressure within the cuff and a pulse wave sensor for detecting the pulse wave component during the course of cuff pressure changes. The pulse wave sensor produces signals from which a pulse wave amplitude means extracts pulse wave amplitude in time sequence. The maximum value of the pulse wave amplitude is determined and maximum values of the pressure graph area on the higher and lower cuff pressure sides are determined. From these data blood pressure values are calculated
