Abstract

A silicone/silicate-containing antifreeze characterized by dilute aqueous stability includes substituted organosilicon carboxylates characterized by the following formula: ##STR1## wherein M is a monovalent cation such as, for example, sodium; Z represents a moiety hydrolyzable to silanol; R.sup.1 represents hydrogen, a monovalent hydrocarbon radical such as methyl, ethyl, phenyl, and the like or a substituted monovalent hydrocarbon radical; a has a value from 0 to 20, b has a value of 1 or 2, c has a value of 0 or 1, n has a value of 2, 3, or 4, and m has a value of from 3 to 15 when a is other than 0 and from about 7 to about 15 when a is 0.
