Abstract
A method for producing a separating agent having a fluorine-containing group and a hydrophilic group, wherein a cross-linking component consisting of alkylene di(meth)acrylate and/or glycerine poly(meth)acrylate, and a principal chain component consisting of ester and/or ether having therein a polymerizable vinyl group or isopropenyl group and a functional group are subjected to suspension-polymerization to obtain a cross-linked copolymer, and then the functional group in the copolymer is subjected to chemical modification with a fluorine-containing compound or with both fluorine-containing compound and hydrophilic-group-containing compound. The separating agent of the present invention consists essentially of porous cross-linked copolymer particles having porosity in a range of from 0.5 to 3 ml/g and an average particle size in a range of from 1 to 2,000 .mu.m.
